Little Treasures

One of my favorite things about being a Mom is finding little signs of Sydney around the house when I least expect it. Sydney is a busy little girl and she is always doing things around the house by herself. The house will go quiet for a little while and after about 5 minutes I'll start to go exploring to see what she's up to. Here's some of the little signs of Sydney that I've stumbled upon over the past few months. This first one I almost tripped over as I turned the corner in the hallway:

Refrigerator magnets taken from the fridge and stacked and lined up on the floor:

This is actually two sets of magnets. The larger circles are one set and the small glass ones are another set. She said, "Mommy, there's a caterpillar on the floor! The maggots made a caterpillar!" I think she meant MAGNETS. :)

And this was my favorite one. As I walked into the living room and found her little kitties all lined up in pairs with the monkey standing alone in the middle, my heart melted.

And I almost forgot....Elmo is a golfer now, too. ha! I left my golf shoes by the back door and came back to find they had been filled.

Gotta love those little signs of Sydney.

Easter Bunny!

Sydney just loves, loves, loves Easter. Her favorite thing in the world is hiding things and finding them. In the car a few days before Easter she said to me, "It's going to be Easter soon and then we can go to Grandma's house and find Easter Eggs!" The Easter basket full of candy, the Easter Bunny, and the resurrection all take a back seat to the Easter egg hunt in Sydney's world. I guess when you're 3 that's o.k.

Little Princess

Sydney had a great birthday last month! One of her favorite presents was a Cinderella princess dress from Auntie Amanda. She asks me if she can wear it almost every day and after we put it on she says, "But Mommy, I can't be a princess without my crown!" The ensemble is complete once the tiara rests elegantly on her head. I guess I gave birth to a little princess. Who knew? The skateboard is waiting for her in the garage.

Hmmmmm

Hmmmm...I've been trying to write a post for the past few days and it hasn't been showing up on the blog, so i'm testing out a less extensive blog to see if i can figure out the problem. I was just thinking about all of my amazing Christmas gifts that i received this year and one of my favorites (besides the new set of golf clubs) is my Julienne's cookbook. Julienne's is this great little restaurant in San Marino. Their creme brule french toast is to DIE for! It is one of those restaurants that you just wish you get your hands on some of their recipes, but assume it is probably just NOT gonna happen. I mean, why would they give YOU their recipes??

Walking through the book store recently I stumbled across THIS:

I seriously want to make every recipe in the dang thing. First on the list....creme brule french toast! yuuuuuuuuummmmm!

Christmas again?

ok, i know it has been a really, really long time since my last post. I'm not even going to look at the date of that last post. The end of the year is always busy, but this year has been extra busy. I have definitely been falling behind on my photography & i know Granny is dying to see some new photos of Sydney, so I am posting some of the photos we took during our family Christmas card photo shoot. I looked into hiring a professional, but it was just too expensive. I decided to rent the fancy lens that I have my eye on and set up the tripod to get a pic of the 3 of us. Rob shot a few of me & Sydney and I shot a few of him & Sydney and by the time we did all that and the family shots Sydney was soooo over it! Let's just say I don't envy family photographers who work with toddlers. Nevertheless we got it done and have a few fun photos to print up as evidence that Sydney still looked just like mommy in 2009.

more portraits

I am working on more portrait photography just for fun. Rob let me use him as a test subject recently. He is such a cutie, so it was hard to take a bad photo of him. I am one lucky girl. It was a fun day at the Huntington Gardens wandering through the Chinese & Japanese gardens snapping photos, working with my camera, & hanging out with my family.

L.A. Live Steamers

if there's one thing that Sydney loves, it is trains! Casey Jr. is her imaginary best friend. I hear stories about Casey Jr. almost every day. Rob and I discovered this place in Griffith Park called L.A. Live Steamers one day when it was featured on Huell Howser. We knew Sydney would love it and she certainly DID! These little steamers are part of the non-profit museum and they only accept donations for rides. Everyone there was incredibly nice and we will definitely be back to ride the trains again.
